The President of the Xunta meets with the promoters of the Mina Doade Project

The President of Grupo Samca, Javier Luengo, and representatives from Recursos Minerales de Galicia, S.A, held a meeting with the President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, regarding the Mina Doade project. During the meeting, Rueda conveyed the regional government’s commitment to making use of Galicia’s subsoil resources to strenghten the European value chain of strategic raw materials. In this context, Rueda stated that Galicia could play a key role in the European Union’s strategy to harness the critical resources available across the continent.

The President of the Xunta, who was accompained by the Secrery General of the Economic Coordination Office of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Reboredo, and the Director General for Energy Planning and Mines, Pablo Fernández Vila, highlighted the potential of mining to drive economic growth in Galicia, create jobs, and support the green and digital transitions across Europe. For his part, Luengo emphasised Group Samca’s commitment to the project, as well as the shared value and positive social impact generated in the areas where the company operates.

This meeting is part of the ongoing dialogue and public participation process for the Mina Doade project. Recursos Minerales de Galicia, S.A., has held informative meetings with local community authorities to share updates on the project’s development, including the municipalities of Avión, A Lama, Beariz and Forcarei; the Provincial Council of Ourense; the the Regional Ministries of Economy and Industry, and Environment and Climate Change.

Once the project’s full technical documentation is made available through the public consultation process, the company plans to establish a dialogue forum with local stakeholders interested in the project, including communal landowners, neighbourhood associations, and local authories, among others.
