The mining sector recognizes Mina Doade as an example of social management and transparency

The social participation and communication project of Mina Doade received the first prize in the “Outstanding Project in Social Management – Large Company” category, subcategory “Community Participation”, at the 2025 National Awards of the Minería y Vida Foundation.

This recognition highlights the participatory and transparent approach that has characterized Recursos Minerales de Galicia’s initiative since its early stages, anticipating the regulatory requirements that are now mandatory in Galicia.

The Minería y Vida Foundation Awards are among the most prestigious recognitions in Spain’s mining sector, rewarding good practices with a positive social impact. The jury emphasized that Mina Doade’s focus on participation and transparency is a pioneering example in the extractive sector in Spain and a benchmark in Galicia for social commitment.

From the very beginning, the Mina Doade project has placed the local community at the heart of its strategy, including an extensive participatory consultation process and rigorous scientific research on local social perception.

This effort resulted in 46 in-depth interviews with key stakeholders and 519 surveys conducted across the municipalities of Beariz, Avión, Forcarei, A Lama, and Cerdedo-Cotobade. The research led to the Social and Economic Impact Assessment Study (EISE), which proposes 26 social measures and was included in the documentation submitted with the application for the exploitation concession in January 2025.

Since 2022, Mina Doade has also implemented an open and transparent communication strategy to ensure that the public has access to clear and verified information about the project.

One of the key milestones in this commitment was the voluntary publication of all official documentation related to the exploitation concession application —over 8,900 pages—, accessible for consultation and download even before the official public consultation period. This unprecedented transparency policy remains active today.
