Mina Doade was among the projects featured at the 2026 Mining and Minerals Hall (MMH), Spain’s leading event for the mining sector. In particular, the project took part in the round table “Social Commitment and Environmental Excellence in Strategic Projects: the Case of Galicia”, which explored how mining projects in Galicia are incorporating social and environmental considerations into their development.
During the session, José Luis Corbacho, Mina Doade Project Director, presented some of the main initiatives undertaken by Recursos Minerales de Galicia in these areas. Its social commitment is reflected in the social dialogue process with local communities, the voluntary preparation of a Social and Economic Impact Assessment (EISE), and a range of initiatives designed to promote open communication, transparency and access to information about the project.
With regard to environmental excellence, the session also highlighted the technical decisions incorporated into Mina Doade’s design to reduce its impact on the surrounding environment. These include optimised water management and a modern, efficient mining design aimed at minimising disturbance to the land surface.
The round table was moderated by Teresa Mallada and also featured Diego Casal, Deputy Director-General for Mineral Resources at the Xunta de Galicia; Fernando Díaz Riopa, from Cobre San Rafael; Juan Ricoy, from Áridos do Mendo; and Daniel Mamadou-Blanco, from Mina de Penouta.
The session provided an opportunity to share different approaches to social and environmental commitment within the mining sector and to discuss Galicia’s strategic role in supplying the raw materials Europe needs.
