RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCTION

A FAMILY COMPANY
WITH A MINING TRADITION

Grupo Samca’s mining activities date back to the 1950s, with coal operations in Aragon. Its significant transformation occurred in the following decade, with substantial investments in machinery and facilities.

Currently, it is one of the most important national producers of leonardites and clays, focusing on their subsequent valorisation for the fertilizer and ceramic sectors.

At present, it operates 54 active mines and 18 industrial plants throughout Spain, diversifying the production of raw materials:

  • Anhydrous sodium sulfate
  • Clays, kaolins, muscovite micas…
  • Absorbent clays
  • Dolomites

A LEADER IN SPANISH MINING WITH THREE MINES IN GALICIA

Grupo Samca operates in Galicia with three active mines in A Mariña de Lugo, as well as holding mining rights in various locations in the area. These open-pit mines (a different technique than the one to be applied in Mina Doade) were acquired in 2019 and are dedicated to the production of kaolins and feldspars. The operations of this business line are carried out by Euroarce, the leading Spanish company in raw materials for the ceramic industry.

In A Mariña, Euroarce Caolines has agreements with the owners (CMVMC) of all the lands in which it operates and is adapting its exploitation plans to align with cutting-edge mining environmental technologies.
